If taken care of properly, this flash tube can give you up to tens of thousands of shots. You will most likely break it before it burns out so it's not always a bad idea to have a second flash tube on hand.
We understand how frustrating it can be to send back your light head just to have a simple flash tube replaced you may have broke. We purposely made both our Strobelite and Strobelite Plus with a user changeable flash tube so that if you are ever out in the field, your entire shoot is not ruined because you accidently broke a tube. Simply put your back-up tube in and you're ready to keep shooting!
Just in case you may not be aware, you must wear gloves when installing the flash tube as it cannot be touched by bare hands. The oils in our skin can damage the flash tube.
One of the best ways to tell a high-quality strobe from a low-quality strobe is it's consistency. This flash tube offers consistent daylight color temperature at 5500-degrees Kelvin (+/- 100 degrees)
The proof is in the performance. This flash tube offers our Strobelite and Strobelite Plus consistent output flash after flash.
To replace the flash tube, first make sure the unit is unplugged. Then, simply remove the small spring from the hook and pull the flash tube directly outward. (Make sure to have gloves on as bare skin CANNOT touch the flash tube). Then insert your replacement into these same holes apply some pressure until it locks into place. Re-attach the spring on the hook and you are ready to go!
