Card type and Compatibility

Check the memory card slot and the literature that comes along with your camera to confirm you have the right card. It should read Compact Flash Card, Secure Digital Card, or MicroSD card.

Not all memory cards will fit inside your camera. The smaller point and shoot digital cameras come with a standard SD (Secure Digital) card slot that also accepts SDHC (Secure Digital High capacity) and SDXC (Secure Digital Extended Capacity) cards. Professional cameras come with slots suitable for the bigger Compact Flash Cards. Some mid-range and even professional DSLRs have twin card slots one of which support Compact Flash Cards and the other one SD cards.
